Speaker Justin Muturi Breaks Silence On Being Betrayed By Musalia Mudavadi

Date:

The speaker of the National Assembly Justin Muturi has broken his silence regarding ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi’s betrayal.

Musalia Mudavadi betrayed his colleagues in the One Kenya Alliance by teaming up with Deputy President William Ruto to form a new coalition ahead of the next general elections.

The move, that Mudavadi had initially described as an earthquake, annoyed Kalonzo Musyoka and Gideon Moi who left Bomas of Kenya on Sunday on learning the DP Ruto was to attend the much anticipated event.

Through a tweet, Speaker Muturi said that he did not attend the ‘earthquake’ function because he was shocked that Ruto was in attendance hence making them suspicious of what was going to be declared in the convention.

According to him, they have never discussed formation of a coalition with Ruto at any given time.

“I did not attend ANCDCNDC as we were surprised that WSR would attend and MM did not have the courtesy to inform us, making us very suspicious of what they would declare & correctly we have seen the formation of another coalition with WSR, which we have never discussed at any time,” Muturi wrote.

In November 2021, the OKA team had a meeting with Mt. Kenya Unity Forum which was represented by Martha Karua, William Kabogo and Muturi.

According to reports, the teams met to have a discussion on whether Karua would be a running mate to any of the leaders that OKA would select to be the alliance’s flag bearer.

Early January this year, the National Assembly speaker agreed to work with OKA after the principals visited him at his home in Nairobi.

“Going forward, we will be working together for the benefit of this country. We need to maintain peace knowing that there is a tomorrow,” he said then.
