Shock As Gangs Attack Homa Bay Homes To Slash Cows To Death

Date:

Residents of North Kanyamwa and Kanyabala wards in Homa bay county were left in shock after a gang attacked their homes and slashed cows.

According to reports,8 cows were killed during the Saturday night  attack that saw over 70 cows affected.

The incident comes just days after a similar attack was witnessed in Mbita which left 31 cows dead.

Elijah Odhiambo, a local in one of the affected areas claims that the attackers are trying to communicate something that they are yet to figure out.

“It is strange for the gang to target cows. Seems someone wants to make a point but we don’t know,” he told reporters.

In Mbita, 12 farmers were affected in five villages namely Kitare, Kamolo, Kamsama, Waondo and Oseno.

The attackers slit open the bellies of the cows but did not steal any property from the farmers.

Local authorities are still trying to unravel the mystery behind the shocking incident.

“We don’t know the motive of the criminals but investigations are ongoing to ensure they are brought to book,” Mbita sub county police commander Stanley Atavachi said.

On his side, the Homa Bay county commissioner Moses Lilan said that they had some crucial leads on the suspects.

“We are going to hold a public baraza with residents concerning this incident today. We must handle it with due seriousness,” he said.
