“Shame On You!” Caroline Mutoko Hits Back After Facing Total Character Assassination Over Expressway Remarks

Date:

Radio queen Caroline Mutoko has responded to those who have been bashing her over her comment on Matatus being on the Nairobi expressway.

Mutoko had expressed her shock on learning that matatus also use the expressway. This is after an accident occurred at the Mlolongo Toll station whereby an Embassava minibus crashed on the station hitting another personal vehicle that rolled. Several people were injured following the July 4, evening incident.

“Wait, we now have matatus on the Expressway? Courting trouble…” Mutoko wondered.

Judging from her comment, netizens assumed that she meant only private cars should use the expressway and PSVs should not be allowed on the ‘classy’ road .

Due to that, she has faced a lot of hatred and criticism on social media especially on Twitter with some bringing up the death of former Machakos senator Boniface Kabaka. She is believed to have been the last person with the senator before he met his death.

“Calling Caroline Mutoko, “The shawry who made Mutula Kilonzo to c*m and go” is insane,” read a comment on Twitter.

The media personality has however said that she said what she said with no apologies. According to her, Nairobians especially PSV drivers are very indisciplined to  trust them on the expressway.

“I want to jump right into the conversation and talk about the myopia of anybody thinking that my concern about PSVs being on the expressway is about the PSVs. It is about the fact that number one as a people we are indisciplined. As Nairobians we are grossy indisciplined. PSVs are Massively indisciplined, we are courting trouble” she said in a video uploaded to her Facebook page.

Mutoko added that there is no problem of PSVs plying on the expressway as long as speed governors are installed in them.

“A lot of the victims of the accidents that have happened on the expressway, a lot of the victims were at a standstill. You will not get me to back down on one thing, having PSVs on the expressway without insisting that there are speed governors is courting trouble,” she said.

Mutoko also said that her concerns are not about the vehicles but the passengers and that she hopes someone is working on punitive fines for the expressway.

“I hope those fines look like 20 geez, 10 geez because we can’t be trusted. Stop giving me nonsense when I say we are courting trouble, we are and you know I am right, shame on you” she said.

Below is her full reaction on the whole issue.
