Ruto Gives 1 Million To Hustlers In Bungoma But Displeased Residents Still Shout Him Down

Date:

William Ruto gave Ksh.1 million to traders in at Dinah junction in Webuye but angry residents were still not pleased with his generous donation.

Ruto hit the campaign trail in Bungoma county meeting residents at various centers to drum up support for his new political party UDA.

The deputy president was accompanied by area MPs John Waluke, Fred Kapondi, Majimbo Kalasinga, Dan Wanyama, Didmus Barasa, Mwambu Mabonga and Benjamin Washiali, and former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale.

Ruto made a brief stop at Dinah junction in Webuye to address residents, he announced that he was donating Ksh.1 million to traders.

“I asked your MP, Dan Wanyama to write for me the names of mama mbogas and those other people that run their businesses at this junction and he did a good job. He gave me a list of 300 “hustlers” and I’ve got something for them.

“I have one million shillings for them which means three thousand shillings for everyone. This will just be a booster to your stock and things will even be better next year should we take over the leadership of this country because one hundred million shillings will be set aside annually for the same in each constituency,” Ruto said.

But even as Ruto was announcing his generous donation residents were not impressed per se, they kept shouting him down grumbling about fuel price hike.

The DP ignored the residents shouting him down and went ahead to invite Webuye West MP Dan Wanyama to deliver his remarks.

The area MP also received a cold reception as the residents chanted “mafuta, Mafuta” when he took the microphone to speak.

Upon realizing that he may not have it easy, the Wanyama opted for music and went on singing one gospel song to control the crowd.

The Webuye West MP had no option but to talk about the fuel price hike. He blamed President Uhuru Kenyatta and his handshake partners for the sharp increase in fuel prices.

“Dear President Uhuru Kenyatta and your handshake friends, please know that hustlers are people too. Starting tomorrow, let the fuel prices reduced because they are making the lives of our bodaboda riders difficult,” said Webuye West MP Dan Wanyama.
