Deputy president William Samoei Ruto has made it clear that he is not interested in political leaders whose only major role in this life is to follow him like cows.
According to DP Ruto, he has absolutely zero interest in politicians who blindly follow him without thinking, maintaining that he is only keen on having those with the same ideological leanings as him.
“I want those we will work with together. I am not interested in those following me without thinking. I don’t need followers, I don’t need cows since I have many cows at home. All i need are citizens who can think upright so that i engage them.” Said Ruto.
His sentiments were seen as targeting those Mt. Kenya leaders since they are the ones who have been following the second in command everywhere he goes.
For instance, a number of Mt. Kenya leaders amongst them Kandara MP Alice Wahome, Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungwa, Kiharu member of parliament Ndindi Nyoro and Meru senator Mithika Linturi always accompany the deputy president in almost all events.
Even though it was not clear why the second in command made those sentiments, one clear thing is that he was targeting some of his Mt. Kenya allies since he made the comments at a time when the region is trying to unite.
A number of leaders who don’t agree with Ruto from Mt. Kenya are already coalescing together in the name of advocating for economic interests of the region.
Some like Gatundu member of parliament Moses Kuria already disagreed with the idea of dissolving their parties to follow the DP blindly. According to him, they would support the deputy president while within their parties since that will guarantee them a high bargaining power.
