Russian-Ukraine War: Man Busted Hiding In Baby Clothes To Get Smuggled Out Of Ukraine

Date:

A Ukrainian man was caught pants down trying to flee the country by hiding himself in a box full of baby clothes.

According to reports, the man attempted to smuggle himself to Moldova only for him to get caught at a check-point near the border.

The man was inside a car that was being driven by a woman who was in the company of her two children.

On reaching the Rososhany checkpoint, guards stopped the vehicle to conduct a thorough check only for them to discover there was a man in it. They further locked the wheel to prevent the woman from escaping.

It alleged that the man was escaping to avoid fighting after  Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky ordered all men between 18-60 years to remain in the war-hit nation and fight the Russians.

Zelensky imposed martial law on Ukraine on February 24 however there are some exceptions including persons with medical conditions,  if the person is looking after three children or more, one raising a child alone, or raising a child with a disability.

The law however does not apply to a parent who has adopted a child, according to Visit Ukraine.

The man did not meet any of the exceptions and therefore he was supposed to remain behind and fight for his country. It is however not clear whether he was allowed to leave the country or taken back to fight the Russians.

Authorities in Ukraine have been handing weapons to civilians to help in fighting Russians who invaded their country last month following an order from president Vladimir Putin.
