Rogue Hospital Guards Leave Innocent Man With Broken Limbs After Beating Him To  Near-death

Date:

Kijabe Hospital has once again found itself in controversy after a man claimed that he was assaulted by the hospital’s guards, an incident that left him bedridden with broken limbs.

According to a report by a local daily, John Mbugua sustained injuries after an altercation with the guards on June 1, this year.

Mbugua had pitched camp at the hospital for over a month to take care of his relatives, his sister, her husband and their two children who had been admitted in ICU following an accident they had suffered during the Easter holidays season.

The family lost three of their relatives in the accident that occurred along Nakuru-Nairobi Highway.

Mbugua’s sister, brother in-law and one of their children were discharged but he stayed at the hospital to take care of his nephew.  On the day of the assault, his sister had gone to relieve him from the caregiving duties.

As he left the hospital, he was confronted by guards who wanted to know whether he had been granted permission to leave the hospital.

For any caregiver to leave the hospital, he/she is supposed to secure a stamped letter to prove that he had been allowed to leave. Mbugua had gone through the process twice but on the fateful day, his permit had not been stamped since it was a holiday.

“I showed the letter but was not allowed to leave. It had to be stamped. I had it stamped then returned to the gate to be cleared. The nurses had come to intervene.

“They, however, insisted that I should be accompanied by whomever I had left behind. My sister, who had come to relieve me, was still in crutches and could not walk all the way to the gate. I explained to the guards the circumstances but they would hear none of it,” hee narrated his deadly encounter.

The nurses intervened and he was allowed to leave but a female guard accused him of insulting her and called for backup.

7 guards descended on him with blows and kicks inside a room until he was unconscious. He only woke up while at a hospital bed with his items missing including his ID and some money.

The matter was reported at Kijabe police station with the  hospital confirming that it was aware of the incident.
