Reprieve For DCI Boss Kinoti As Corrupt Judge Anthony Mrima Who Sentenced Him Is Exposed By Sonko

Date:

High Court Judge Anthony Mrima who sentenced DCI boss George Kinoti to four months in prison has been exposed by Sonko for dishing out favorable rulings to the highest bidder.

Former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has been exposing corruption in the Kenya judiciary where judges, lawyers and litigants exchange bribes for justice.

Sonko using secret recordings captured judges and their assistance soliciting for bribes to deliver favorable rulings.

Among the judges exposed by Sonko are Said Juma Chitembwe, Aggrey Muchelule and Anthony Mrima. Others include High Court Advocate Alice Yano and Senior Counsel George Oraro.

Sonko’s exposé showed that Chitembwe’s brother Amana Said Jirani acted as an intermediary connecting corrupt judges and judicial officials with clients seeking to offer bribes for favorable court rulings.

Amana Said Jirani lists names of judges who can be trusted to deliver favorable rulings once bribed with millions of shillings.

“Mtu ambaye ukimpatia anafanya Yano, Olaro na huku Mrima (Let me tell you, at the coast, the best to trust is Yano and Olaro, here in Nairobi, the best and most trustworthy is Anthony Mrima)” Amana Said Jirani told Sonko and other people present while assuring them that they will get the ruling they desire when they give bribe.

Amana Said Jirani also told Sonko that his brother Chitembwe trusts Aggrey Muchelule because they have been working together in their corrupt dealings.

“Mzee (Chitembwe )likes dealing with the man from Western (he confirms that this is judge Muchelule). Whenever he hears he will deal with him, he is always very happy.” Amana told Sonko.

Anthony Mrima on Thursday November 18th sentenced DCI Director George Kinoti to four months imprisonment for failing to obey a court order requiring him to release firearms belonging to businessman Jimi Wanjigi.

Mrima said Kinoti is required to surrender to prison within seven days failure to which the Inspector General of Police should effect a warrant of arrest against him.

“In the further event the IG of Police fails to execute the warrant, the same shall remain valid and be executed anytime including when Kinoti leaves the office of the DCI,” said Judge Mrima.

Mrima in issuing the directive said the State acted irrationally by taking Wanjigi’s guns while he still held a valid license.
