Rashid Echesa attracts huge crowd in Mumias Town

Date:

Everything came to a standstill in Mumias Town on Friday morning after the former Sports Cabinet Secretary, Rashid Echesa made a homecoming.

The embattled former CS clearly hasn’t lost his support in Mumias as his envoy was warmly welcomed with a lot of supporters on motorbikes hooting in his support.

Others were also carrying placards in his honor.

This warm welcome by Mumias comes months after he was arrested amid a probe into his role in a KSh39 billion fake tender deal to supply the Government with military surveillance equipment, guns, and ammunition.

He was held in custody in February after a complaint by two gun dealers who claimed he had swindled them Sh11.5 million that they had paid as ‘consultancy fees’.

In March, the hearing of the Sh39 billion fake military tender case against him and four others failed to kick off after the prosecution failed to supply the defense with documents.

The people of Mumias clearly don’t care about what their son of the soil went through in Nairobi as they cheered him on when he addressed them from one of his cars from the sunroof.
