Raila’s Brother Oburu Odinga Comes Clean On Eyeing Slots In Four Powerful Parliamentary Committees

Date:

Raila Odinga’s brother Oburu Odinga has found himself in a tight spot after it emerged that he was eyeing at least four positions in powerful committees in the Senate.

A section of Kenyans claimed that he was advantaged because of his ties with Raila in what has been seen as locking out other ODM senators who have been loyal to the party.

Addressing the issue, Oburu said that he was the first person to show interest in being a member of the Parliamentary Service Commission.

He further said that it was his personal decision and that if there are mistakes, his party and the Azimio la Umoja coalition will discuss and find a solution.

“I want to clearly state that I had communicated my interest to be a member of PSC early and before any other person had made their interest known. It was my decision as a duly elected member senate representing Siaya county as an equal member of the senate just like other senators. If there are mistakes made the ODM party and Azimio la Umoja will sit down and give a communication on the same,” he said.

Oburu also denied claims that he was interested in being a member of four committees as it had widely been speculated.

“I have not been fronted for four committees but two, energy committee and devolution committee as it stands now. Whoever has a problem with my representation should contact my party @ ODM and AZIMIO LA UMOJA,” he said
