Raila Odinga To Be Arrested Anytime From Now Over His Silly Madoadoa Remarks

Date:

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga is in trouble and may be arrested any minute from now if he does not present himself willingly to the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC).

Apparently, the NCIC which is a body mandated to monitor political hatemongers on Friday decided to bite hard by demanding that the ODM leader present himself to their offices as immediately as possible.

The opposition leader found himself on the wrong side of the law after making madoa doa remarks while campaigning for Azimio la Umoja in Wajir.

Raila used the madoadoa remarks as he called upon the locals to ensure that they vote for members of Azimio from MCA to the president.

“Kuwa mwanajeshi was baba mpaka uwe na bunduki na risasi. Mko Tayari? hatutaki madoa doa hapa Wajir. Tunataka viongozi wachaguliwe ndani ya Azimio.(To be Baba’s soldier you need a gun and a bullet. Are you ready? we don’t want spots here in Wajir. We want leaders to be voted from Azimio),” the former prime minister said. Raila’s interpretation of gun and bullet means an Identity Card and a voter’s card.

These sentiments by Raila did not go well with a section of Kenyans allied to deputy president William Ruto who called upon the authorities to summon the ODM leader just the same way Mithika Linturi was summoned.

The opposition leader’s Madoadoa remarks were not different from what Meru senator Mithika Linturi said back in January while on Hustler nation campaigns in Eldoret, just  a week before UDA, Ford Kenya and ANC united to form a coalition dubbed Kenya Kwanza.

“…Watu wa Uasin Gishu musicheze na Kenya, na kile nawaomba ni kwamba madoa doa yale mulionayo hapa muweze kuondoa(People of Eldoret don’t play with Kenyans, I am requesting that you do away with the spots that you have here),” Linturi said during UDA’s.

Linturi also meant that Uasin Gishu people should only vote for UDA members right from the MCA all the way to the president.

His remarks were however considered incitement and hate speech and he was arrested a day after making the remarks. Linturi apologized as well as his party leader, William Ruto.

Fast-forward, a number of Kenyans have been waiting to see whether Raila would be arrested or even investigated over the remarks and it seems their wish has finally come true.

“When I listen to Madoadoa speech by Raila Odinga and Mithika Linturi. The Raila comments are much worse because he advocates for youth to use Bunduki na Risasi,” Daisy K said.

“So how should we deal with Raila’s “madoadoa” statement? Do we take it as: 1. Incitement? 2. He’s above the law? 3. Or it’s the senility that’s making him talk like a broken record? However, nothing beats “uku ndio Mungu anakojoa”. Ile kiboko inangoja that old sickly puppet,” Mumbi Mbui tweeted.
