Puzzle Of Missing KVDA Boss Whose Body Was Discovered At His Farm 12 Years Later

Date:

Police have exhumed a body believed to be that of missing Kerio Valley Development Authority(KVDA) managing director Silvanos Tubei.

Tubei went missing from his home on September 26, 2012 at around 10 am only for the body believed to be his to be discovered buried at his home at Chepkurmum farm.

The body, that was wrapped in a blanket, was discovered when a group of children went to collect firewood. They stumbled upon the blanket and on attempting to pull it out they noticed a skull.

The children alerted the gardener and authorities got involved.

“The pieces of clothes found next to the skeleton match what he was wearing,” a family member told reporters on condition of anonymity.

On Wednesday, Police officers obtained a court order from Iten’s magistrate court to exhume the body, an exercise that has been carried out this Thursday.

The body will be taken to the lab for a DNA test to establish whether it actually belongs to Tubei.

“We have heard reports of a missing person in the area since 2012. However we can not say that the remains belong to the late Tubei but investigations will enable us to know whether he is the one or not,” Keiyo South subcounty police boss Abdullahi Dahir said.

After he went missing, his second wife, together with her purported accomplice were charged with his disappearance.

The wife was arrested after she was found in possession of his mobile phone. The case was however dismissed due to lack of sufficient evidence, and since then, neither the estranged wife nor her child have been seen or heard of.

On the other hand, two of Tubei’s children with his late first wife are said to have moved to abroad, according to a family member.
