As the cabinet secretary for health, Mutahi Kagwe says ” you can gerit, I can gerit” the government is taking no chances in trying to curb the spread of Covid-19.
Reports show that a Principal Secretary, a Senior Member of Parliament, and two top Judges are among the high profile Kenyans that have been forced quarantine after testing positive for Covid-19.
Another government official who has been under quarantine for the last 60 days is an Under-Secretary in a government ministry and the head of leading state institution.
The government officers are among 100 Kenyans who have remained positive for coronavirus for more than two-week – a period that the WHO stipulated to be the recovery time, despite showing any signs or experiencing any health complications.
This news comes at a time when employers want their employees who have tested positive for the deadly disease to obtain a certificate showing they are free from the virus.
Kenya Medical Research Institute (Kemri) has already taken a keen interest in those who have been forced into quarantine until they turn negative.

The PS and the second-term MP have been forced to delegate their duties to their colleagues as they still await to turn positive for the virus. The two judges, a male, and a female have also passed on their duties to colleagues at the Court of Appeal and High Court respectively.
The affected people who experienced content running nose, headaches, coughing, difficulty in breathing, and fever at the time of testing and were put under quarantine are worried that the disease would cause a long term health problem.
