Priest On Spot For Preaching Political Change In The Country

Date:

Richard Mugisha, a Catholic father as Bisanje Parish in Masaka Diocese, has been put on the spot for asking voters to vote for change in the coming poll.

In a video that went viral on social media, the priest condemns top government officials for not prioritizing issues affecting voters, but instead focus on themselves.

Father Mugisha accused Ugandan President, Yoweri Museveni of failing to stick to his promise of leaving office after clocking 75 years.

Presidential Assistant Faruk Kirunda hit back at the priest, accusing him of hypocrisy and abuse of the pulpit by mixing religion with partisan politics.

“People determine their leaders, who are Mugisha to question their wisdom…,” Kirunda said as reported by Ugandan publication, The Daily Monitor.

The priest is reportedly also wondered why the state proposes to construct roads in the neighboring DR Congo yet there are many or roads in Uganda.

When contacted by the publication to respond to the video, the youthful man of God said: “I can hardly add to what I said. The message was very clear. What I can tell you now is that I  gave that message while  talking to people in Kyotera District.”

He urged the youths to achieve a degree of control over their destiny by voting in new leaders to the office.

“These people [in government]  are buying off all the land in your area because they hold offices, where they can easily access taxpayers’ money and you can’t recognize this,” he said as quoted by the Daily Monitor.
