The powerful Raila Karua ticket has sent deputy president William Ruto and his runningmate Rigathi Gachagua to the drawing board.
Despite campaigning in Mt. Kenya since 2017, the move by Raila Odinga to pick Martha Karua has disorganized Kenya Kwanza and they are determined to retain their support in the region.
Reports reveal that William Ruto and his running-mate Rigathi Gachagua are today expected to lead the Kenya Kwanza Alliance presidential campaigns to the Mt Kenya region on a five-day drive.
The duo are expected to chair several economic forums, a move seen as an attempt to convince the Mountain once again following complaints about his choice of Mathira member of parliament Rigathi Gachagua.
The Kenya Kwanza team also hopes to reverse the gains by the azimio One Kenya Alliance after they picked former Gichugu member of parliament Martha Karua. The move by the ODM leader to pick Karua is said to be working against Ruto’s side since it has changed the conversation completely.
After being appointed, Kenyan women were elated with most of them saying that it was long overdue for women to also take up meaningful leadership positions in the country.
The UDA boss will be accompanied by a number of Kenya kwanza leaders amongst them Rigathi Gachagua, Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula, Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi and others. They are set to begin their tour today in Nakuru before they head to Kipipiri constituency in Nyahururu county.
On Friday they will go to Embu then to Murang’a on Saturday, back to Nakuru on Sunday before finalizing in Kiambu on Monday
