Polygamous Man Flees After His Youngest Wife Delivered Quadruplets

Date:

A 31-year old woman from Ntugamo district in Uganda was abandoned by her husband in hospital after she delivered quadruplets.

It is alleged that Asiimwe Elkangiro fled the Kisiizi hospital on learning that his wife, Mary Kyomugisha was to undergo CS to deliver the quadruplets last weekend.

The couple already had one child before the birth of the quadruplets. According to the hospital’s caregiver, Moreen Nayebare, Kyomugisha was mentally disturbed on learning that her husband had fled.

“The situation is worrying because the father of the quadruplets is polygamous. He has two other wives and Kyomugisha is the third. She is stressed because she needs money to clear hospital bills and treatment which is more than Ushs1m,” Nayebare noted.

To make matters worse, Kyomugisha has to buy her daughters supplementary milk since she is only able to feed them  from one of her breasts.

“The babies are always crying because I cannot produce enough milk. One of my breasts has an issue so they are depending on the other breast. My husband is not supportive and affording milk is difficult,” the mother of five revealed.

The caregiver called upon NGO’s, government organizations as well as well wishers to come to her rescue.

According to the Kisiizi hospital administrator, Moses Mugume, the operation was carried out at 32 weeks and the babies were put in the incubator since the heaviest weighed 1.6 kgs.

He also appealed to good Samaritans to help in clearing the hospital bills, which is over 40,000 Kenyan shillings and to help the family in meeting other necessities.
