It seems the controversial President Uhuru Kenyatta look alike Michael Gitonga is now swimming in millions of shillings if not dollars.
After being silent for some months, Michael Gitonga has made the greatest comeback in the Kenyan history that no ordinary citizen would.
Well, president Uhuru look alike has now declared that he will be vying for the country’s top seat in a bid to replace president Kenyatta after he finishes his second term on 9th August 2022.
The Umoja estate resident who is commonly known as “Uhunye wa umo” is now a presidential candidate and believes that he is the best person to take over from president Uhuru Kenyatta.
Interestingly, the man has revealed that he will not use any political party and that he will vie as an independent candidate.
According to the IEBC, for one to be nominated president, they have to part with millions of money to be nominated.
Independent presidential candidates are required to pay the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) a clearance fee of Sh1 Million to run for the presidency.Â
As if that is not enough, for any presidential candidate to compete fairly in any election, he or she needs millions of shillings if not billions to go around the country selling their manifestos.
So expensive are presidential campaigns that you need several choppers to go in every part of the nation just to sell your agenda to the people.
Thus, it goes without saying that president Uhuru look alike may be swimming in cash having declared to go for the top seat and is ready to not only fund his campaigns but also to pay the IEBC nomination fees and even print several posters and flyers to be shared across the country.
On their side, Kenyans had the following to tell Michael Gitonga after he made the declaration:
“It seems you have gotten some few millions and it’s why you now want to join politics. How i wish you could use that money to do something else instead of wasting it in politics because you will fail anyway.”
“Woow, so you have the balls to declare that you will run for the presidency? Do you think it costs coins to even reach the ballot? I think you are swimming in some cash and we wish you all the best.”
“Haha this is the best joke taken too far. Just when we thought president Uhuru was going to retire and boom his look alike is now here telling us to elect him come August. Wonders shall never end.”
