Outgoing MP Severely Punishes Students After Losing In The August 9 General Elections

Date:

Outgoing Kesses Member of parliament (MP) Mishra Swarup has allegedly unleashed his anger of losing elections on students.

Sources claim that the MP has withdrawn the scholarship of 300 students who are from his constituency after being trounced in the August 9 general elections.

“Former Kesses MP Mishra Kiprop, withdraws scholarship for 300 students, who were members of his constituency immediately after losing elections,” a source revealed on twitter.

The MP and founder of Mediheal hospital, allegedly funded the students’ education from his pocket.

Reacting to his move, some have suggested that his step would hurt him further when it comes to the 2027 general election while others suggested that Kesses people will pay dearly for voting him out, here are some of their reactions.

“I support former Kesses MP Mishra Kiprop for withdrawing his education support for his constituents. It’s time we started punishing the stupidity and arrogance of Kenyan voters. Hit them where it hurts until they get their senses back,” a Twitter user said.

“How did you guys expect the former Kesses Member of Parliament, Mishra Kiprop to continue supporting the over 300 students he had put on scholarship? A man you all turned against and even asked that he returns to India,” said another.

“Students have been learning at kesses even before Mishra became the MP, Azimio orphans don’t talk like Mishra gave air for breathing to kesses residents. Respect the majority decision, it is democracy, ” read another tweet.

Mishra is however yet to comment on the matter.

The now former MP, who vied on an Independent ticket, lost to UDA’s Julius Ruto, a former official at the Uasin Gishu county government.

Ruto garnered over 30,000 votes to defeat Mishra who secured about 20, 000 votes. The outgoing MP had however campaigned intensively. Just  months ago, he spent Kshs 30 million to empower youths in his constituency by donating 250 motorcycles so that they can venture into the boda boda business.

Among other empowerment projects he had rolled out include donating cows to households and women groups, blankets,  beehives, incubators, salon equipment, cyber cafe equipment, public address systems, event organizing equipment and agricultural inputs.
