A family in Gakoe village in Gatundu North , Kiambu county has been thrown into mourning following the death of their one year old son.
The one year old identified as Brian Macharia met his death after falling into a pit latrine.
According to the deceased’s mother Lucy Njeri, the young one was playing outside their house when she heard him scream.
Njeri rushed to check what was happening to her son only to find him on the verge of falling into the pit latrine.
She rushed to rescue her son but it was too late as he ended up falling into the latrine.
“I was with him when he was playing outside and only minutes after I entered the house, he crawled to the toilet. When I went to rescue him, his head was already inside the toilet and he slipped and fell upon my arrival,” Njeri recounted.
Kiambu county fire brigade and emergency response retrieved the deceased’s body which was transferred to General Kago mortuary.
Police have since began investigating the to establish the events that led to the shocking incident.
