Shock As Kiambu Woman Commits Suicide After Being Asked To Take Care Of Her Children

Date:

A 32-year old woman from Mutunduini village in Gatundu south Kiambu county committed suicide after being asked to provide for her children.

Mary Wahu Macharia allegedly took her own life following an argument with her mother over neglecting her children.

The deceased is said to have hanged herself at her brother’s farm by using a sisal rope while drunk.

According to Wahu’s mother, Theresia Njeri, her daughter had visited her home on Friday November 12 to check on her father who had been away.

During the visit, Njeri confronted her daughter for failing to provide for her three children.

“My daughter had rented a house near our home. Yesterday she came drunk to catch up with her father who has been working away from home. It is during this time that we had a confrontation and she started abusing me,” Njeri recounted.

Her father was forced to intervene after her abuses became serious and asked her to leave the house.

“At first, her father who was also in the house was quiet about what was going on between us but he later got involved after her abuse degenerated into serious insults. Her father later asked her to leave the house,”  Njeri said in an interview with K24 digital.

According to Njeri, her daughter left the three children under her care even before they reached an agreement but did not provide for them.

“She left the children with me without prior agreement leaving me struggling to provide for them,” she said.

After the argument, the deceased left the house and her mother thought she had gone back to her house. Upon making an inquiry, she was informed that Wahu had committed suicide.

A local pastor has called upon his colleagues to join hands in prayers to cast out evil spirits that he claimed have rocked the area leading to such serious crimes.

“This is a wake-up call to all pastors. We have been called to pray and counsel our people. It is now time we do something to arrest and cast out the evil spirits that are now with us,” the preacher said.
