The question of who will succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022 has just taken an interesting turn after William Ruto, Kenya’s beleaguered deputy president, just got the resounding endorsement of Barrack Obama’s brother Malik Obama.
And while making his endorsement, Malik Obama made some effusive commendations about Ruto whom he said was by his opinion, the best man to replace President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Taking to his Twitter account, he made the following statements:
“William Ruto is a tough, resilient, brilliant, and most of all kind at heart. He has stood with many who have betrayed him. I stand with the Hustler nation. He is also generous. God gave him and he is giving back. With humility and grace,”
Given that the endorsement has come at a time when Ruto is facing uncertainty with his perceived isolation due to presidential machinations, it has probably come as a welcomed reprieve.

Former American president Barrack Obama’s brother Malik first rose to prominence in 2008 when he was given the responsibility of being the extended Obama family spokesman. This happened at the same time Barrack was contesting for the American presidency. Malik later unsuccessfully vied for the Siaya gubernatorial seat before eventually falling out with Barrack.
Ruto has currently found himself on the outs of political power after falling out with President Uhuru Kenyatta who has been perceived to be leading the removal of his capital allies from leadership positions in the senate and August house.
