Njugush abandons Equity Bank campaign after KOT threatens to cancel him

Njugush was accused of trying to sanitize Equity Bank after customers alleged that their money had gone missing.

Kenyans on Twitter, have been running conversations calling for the boycott of the banking giant, which Njugush works with as an influencer.

Njugush was pressured by KOT, who allegedly accuse Equity Bank with defrauding their customers. He had to end a campaign for the bank.

A few of the bank’s customers recently claimed that money was disappearing from their accounts, and no help was forthcoming even after reporting and following up with the bank.

KOT say they will push until justice is done to the customers who’ve complained about their missing money at the bank. Most of the cases, are as a result of being scammed by criminals, who use unscrupulous means impersonating the banks customer service employees.

Njugush also expressed regret to those he has harmed and acknowledges that he has long been a social justice activist.

Many victims have reportedly confided in blogger Kimuzi, who set up a Twitter conversation for them to express their complaints.

His tweet was made after many Kenyans reported fraudulent operations involving Equity Bank on Twitter.

Since then, Equity Bank has cautioned customers against using public WiFi when using their app to conduct transactions.

The bank specified several don’ts that its clients should follow in order to ward off scammers in a letter sent to its customers.

Equity Bank recently issued a statement addressing the issue, that has become a common topic online. They say, that incidents of frauds are taken seriously and procedures are followed to tackle them.

They have also assured their customers that their personal data is safe and the raised cases and issues are being investigated.

“Do not share personal data such as your account number, card/CW, ID number, date of birth, etc with anyone. Do not share your pin, password, or OTP with anyone including your family, relatives, or friends. Do not engage fraudsters on call or sms. Equity will only call you through 0763 000 000,” the bank announced.
