Raila Odinga’s daughter Winnie Odinga while addressing a gathering took a swipe at the deputy president William Samoei Ruto.
Winnie Odinga was reacting to claims that Raila Odinga cannot speak sheng, something which she refuted as she urged others to continue selling chicken.
Her sentiments were definitely an indirect attack on DP Ruto since he is the only self proclaimed chicken seller in the country.
“Niliskia watu wakisema ati hauwezi bonga sheng, that we have been into sheng na baba hawezi bonga sheng. But huu ni msee wa kanairo, huu ni msee wa Nairobi, eeeh, wale wengine ni wa kukam, eeh, hakukuja hapa na gari ya matanga ama barua ya chief. So wale wengine Nairobi iko na wenyewe. Wale wengine wanaeza kutuuzia kuku ama something like that. (Loosely translated: “I Normally hear people say that my father cannot speak sheng but this is Nairobi and baba is a real Nairobian who did not come here like others. He did not use a hearse or a letter from the chief to reach Nairobi so let it be known that Nairobi has its owners. Those others can continue selling chicken or something like that but Nairobi is ours!”) Said Winnie Odinga in an attack directed at the deputy president.
However, her sentiments did not go well with netizens who castigated her for looking down upon other Kenyans. This is how Kenyans commented in the video clip that has so far gone viral:

“Nkt useless who gave this Winnie Odinga a microphone?? Sasa uko na kiburi na baba yako bado hajapewa kiti…. sasa akipewa na muingie statehouse tutapumua kweli?? Yani sisi tunatengenezea baba huku nje na watoto wake wanaaribu??? Kwendeni mbali sasa??”
“Chunga iyo mdongo wewe, ujaiskia Ruto akiomba pesa through paybill kama uyo baba wako wa kanairo??? msoto inakuja soon Wacha mt mafia wapotee uone,”
“Nairobi sio ya watu binafusi ni ya kila mtu weeeee wacha zako. Kanairo ni yangu.”
