Noordin Haji, Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), has been granted permission to drop the murder charges against Sarah Wairimu and Peter Karanja.
The murder charges against Sarah Wairimu, the widow of Tob Cohen, have been dropped by DPP Noordin Haji, and the court has accepted this; Justice Daniel Ogembo says Haji is free to request an inquest.
“This will enable the contradictions that have affected the proceeding of this matter to be heard in detail by all parties. In addition, it will provide an opportunity for parties to present any information that had not been explored substantially before the court,” the DPP said in a circular dated November 30.
Sarah Wairimu, the late Dutch businessman Tob Cohen’s wife, has been on trial for the murder of her husband, who was slain in 2019.
Cohen was killed between July 19 and July 20 according to testimony given in court in 2019.
Before High Court Judge Stella Mutuku, they entered a not guilty plea to the allegations and were granted freedom on Sh2 million cash bond respectively.
However, Mr. Karanja was immediately escorted back to the Naivasha Law Courts after being re-arrested.
