Controversial Jubilee vice chairman David Murathe has admitted that deputy president William Samoie Ruto could actually become president in 2022.
David Murathe noted that William Ruto could be the head of state but the worst one compared to his counterpart, the opposition leader Raila Odinga. According to Murathe, Ruto’s presidency would only benefit him as an individual while that of Raila would benefit all Kenyans.
“Ruto’s presidency if it will ever happen will be about individual person. Raila’s presidency will be about Kenyans.” Wrote Murathe in his official Social media handle.
Following his sentiments, this is how different Kenyans reacted:
“The funny thing, you are realizing this when is too late for him…I can only imagine what will happen to Raila akikosa kushinda.”
“It’s good that you’ve began accepting the reality, prepare for Ruto Presidency,,,”
“Get prepared for Ruto’s Presidency. All Kemsa thieves 21 days will be over!!”
“Atleast now you see the possibility.. soon u’ll be saying “when Ruto becomes the president”
“Murathe now agrees that Ruto can actually be president.”
“The good thing is to know that you know that there is a possibility for him to become the president. But you are suffering from the fear of unknown if he becomes.”
“Why would anybody near power like Murathe allow a Ruto presidency…that is something that should not happen…And Odinga needs to be advised that his fellow nilote Ruto denied him 2017 victory and he needs to stop him from ascending to power.”
“You were the soloist of “Hatakuwa kwa debe” chorus. What became of it now that you are talking of “his presidency”?
“Murathe make sure you go out of the country,if Rutoh becomes the president”
“Get prepared for Ruto’s Presidency. All Kemsa thieves 21 days will be over!!”
Sometimes back, the Jubilee vice chairman reiterated that deputy president William Samoie Ruto would not see the doors of statehouse anytime soon.
Murathe reiterated the sentiments of president Uhuru Kenyatta that they would not allow thieves (a term indirectly used to attack William Ruto) to take power.
“We have unanimously agreed that we won’t leave power to a thief.” Wrote the Jubilee Vice Chairman.
Murathe made these sentiments a few minutes after attending a Jubilee Press conference presided over by secretary general Raphael Tuju. Mr. Tuju equally emphasized president Uhuru’s sentiments that they would not leave the country in the hands of thieves.
While addressing a crowd at Ruiru on October 29th, The head of state urged locals not to vote for thieves in the coming elections.
He told the people to be very careful with the people they vote for as some of them have plans of stealing from the public. Thus, he asked them to elect leaders who would further his legacy and that of former president Mwai Kibaki.
The president who was speaking in his local language also urged the public to tone down at a time when political temperatures were increasing.
However, these sentiments did not augur well with allies of the deputy president such as Aden Duale who told off the president over the “don’t elect thieves” remarks.
Speaking in Kajiado during a tour to popularize UDA’s agenda and the hustler movement, Garissa township Member of Parliament Aden Duale said that president Kenyatta’s remarks were demeaning to voters who voted for the president and Ruto in 2013 and 2017 respectively.
“You are telling us the eight million jubilee supporters in your own leadership are full of conmen and crooks and thieves. That is an insult to the Jubilee family and your supporters,” stated Duale.
