The former secretary general of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, UNCTADÂ has received a backlash over his latest remarks on mitumba business.
During an Azimio political rally in Ukambani, Kituyi boldly revealed that Azimio la Umoja disregards the mitumba business but loves those in the business.
He further explained that their intention was to promote cotton farming so that the traders can sell new clothes.
“We, people in Azimio, love people in the mitumba business but we don’t like mitumba. This is because we want to grow cotton and expand industries so that those in the mitumba business can sell new clothes made in Kenya,” Kituyi said.
A section of Kenyans have however condemned the remarks noting that Azimio has confirmed that they are only interested in the votes of the traders and not their business.
” Dynasty’s coalition, Azimio, has once again come clean on MITUMBA, they have confirmed to Kenyans through their spokesperson Mukhisa Kituyi, that they are only interested in their vote, not their business!” Gichaga Mwangi said.
“Mukhisa Kituyi has finally said it, Azimio loves people who sell mitumba but not mitumba.He means they love your votes but note your mitumba hustle,your hustle doesn’t matter to them. Start thinking!” Kaslim remarked.
“Mukhisa Kituyi went from resigning from a top UN job, to threatening to run for presidency and now is a soloist in Azimio campaigns, despising mitumba, the downfall of a respected man in the society is real not forgetting about that weird video last year,” Mukhisa Kituyi

Exactly a year ago, Kituyi’s nude video while asleep was leaked, sparking a lot of reactions on social media. The heat was so much forcing him to delete his twitter account.
