Mugirango South MP Demands Locals To Get Registered Before Getting CDF Bursaries

Date:

Mugirango South Member of Parliament Sylvanus Osoro has warned the area residents that they risk missing out on bursaries if they fail to register as voters.

Osoro urged the youths as well as parents to take advantage of the ongoing voter registration because only those with voter’s cards will be given the CDF bursaries.

“In one month’s time, we will be announcing bursaries. Applications will be done using your voter’s card and not your national identification card,” he stated.

According to the lawmaker, underage bursary applicants will be required to provide their parent’s voters card for them to be considered.

“For the young ones, you are aware that you will need to attach your father’s ID card. However, this time you will attach his voting card,” Osoro said.

He was speaking during a fund drive for the infrastructure development of both Bogichincho and Nyakembene Secondary Schools presided by Deputy President William Ruto on Monday.

He also used the opportunity to drum support for the DP saying that the youth should register as voters so that they can vote for Ruto in the coming general elections.

“If you do not have a voter’s card, walk into a registration centre with your ID and get a voters card. However much we love William Ruto, if we don’t have voting cards, we have not helped him,” he stated.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission kicked off the mass voter registration exercise on Monday for a period of 30 days.

The electoral body is aiming at registering at least six million voters in the exercise that will be conducted at County Assembly Ward level ahead of the 2022 general elections.

“I urge all eligible Kenyans who have not registered as voters to turn up in large numbers and register,” IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati said.
