Mbita member of parliament Millie Odhiambo was involved in a war of words with Suna East legislator Junet Mohamed during their Azimio rally in Kisumu city.
Millie Odhiambo who rose to speak told off the master of ceremony Mr. Junet Mohamed over what she termed as unfairness.
According to Millie Odhiambo, Junet being the master of ceremony was selectively favoring men at the expense of women. She said that Junet was dismissing women very fast to finish their speeches at the podium while giving men more time.
“Junet Mohamed, I want to caution you that you should treat men and women equally. I have noticed that you are only giving male politicians more time but you are ruling out women very first. We cannot allow that.” said Millie.
The controversial Millie Odhiambo also urged Kisumu men to be faithful and avoid sleeping around with every Tom Dick and Harry.
Raila Odinga on Friday took his Azimio La Umoja tour to Kisumu city. He was accompanied by a number of leaders including Budalangi MP Raphael Wanjala, rarieda MP Otiende Amollo, Kitui governor Charity Ngilu, Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho, Migori woman rep Pamella, Homabay woman rep Gladys Wanga, nominated MP Maina Kamanda, Mori senator Ochillo Ayako, Kisumu senator Fred Outa, Kisumu woman rep Rosa Buyu, Homabay senator Moses Kajawang, Raphael Tuju, Siaya senator James Orengo, Kisii governor James Ongwae, Kanini Kega, John Mbadi, and Former gatanga MP Peter Kenneth amongst others.
The leaders took a swipe at the deputy president William Samoei Ruto as they condemned him for maligning the name of the country in the United States.
On his side, Otiende Amollo castigated the NCIC for summoning Raila Odinga following his madoadoa remarks. According to Otiende Amollo, Raila’s sentiments did not amount to hate speech since he was only consolidating support for the Azimio coalition unlike that of Meru senator Mithika Linturi who urged Eldoret to do away with the madoadoa people in the area.
As a result, Otiende Amollo vowed to summon a group of lawyers to appear before the NCI on behalf of Raila Odinga so that they explain to the NCIC what he really meant.
Peter Kenneth also called upon the residents of Kisumu to lead by example by coming out in large numbers to vote for Raila. Kenneth also urged residents to support Azimio candidates all the way from the MCA to the presidency.
