Nairobi Governor, Mike Mbuvi Sonko has finally caved in and allowed Nairobi Metropolitan Services(NMS) to take hold of some of the money he has been keeping away from the newly formed government body.
Mike Sonko has authorized the transfer of KShs. 3.5 billion and Sonko’s communications Director has confirmed the transaction explaining the money was a part of a supplementary budget.
“What he has signed is the Supplementary budget which encompasses all that was contained in the earlier amendment,” stated Elkana.
Mike Sonko and NMS Director-General, Mohammed Badi have not been on good terms after Mike Sonko refused to hand over Ksh. 15 billion. Sonko also declined to assent the bill to allocate the aforementioned money to the service for the transferred functions.
There was a standoff between the Nairobi governor and Speaker Beatrice Elachi after he declined to approve the billions that the County Assembly had allocated to NMS.
