Miguna Miguna Tells Eliud Kipchoge To Retire With Dignity Now

Date:

Miguna Miguna has offered advice to world marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge, encouraging him to consider retirement while he stands at the pinnacle of his great career.

Miguna’s remarks came after Kipchoge’s impressive victory at the Berlin Marathon, where he once again showcased his exceptional talent and dominance in the sport.

In a post on social media, Miguna Miguna extended his heartfelt congratulations to Eliud Kipchoge for his historic win in Berlin. He took the opportunity to convey a simple yet powerful message, saying, “Congratulations, Eliud Kipchoge. You have made history. Now, retire when you are on top! Viva!”

He pointed to Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt as an exemplary case of an athlete who knew when to exit the stage gracefully. Bolt, widely regarded as the greatest sprinter of all time, chose to retire from professional sprinting in 2017.

Miguna emphasized the importance of recognizing that even the most gifted athletes experience a natural decline in their energy, skills, and performance over time, as Usain Bolt did. Retirement at the right moment allows athletes to preserve their legacy and exit the sport on a high note.

The bold and vocal lawyer also shared the cautionary example of golf champion Tiger Woods. While Woods once dominated the golf course like no other in recent history, he failed to recognize the right time to retire from competitive professional sports. As a result, he went from being a golf legend to becoming a subject of pity in the eyes of some.

Miguna stressed that it’s essential for athletes to understand when to gracefully step away from the sport to protect their legacy and health.

His advice comes on the heels of Eliud Kipchoge’s latest triumph at the Berlin Marathon, where he clinched the gold medal with a remarkable finish time of 2:02:42. Kipchoge’s victory secured his status as the first runner ever to claim the Berlin Marathon title five times. Additionally, he currently holds the marathon world record, achieved with a record-breaking time of 2:01:09.

Ahead of the race, Kipchoge had expressed his primary goal of winning three consecutive Olympic gold medals, underscoring the importance of his Berlin participation in preparing for this ambitious goal and dream.
