A 70-year old woman only identified as Xavera narrated the story of her life and difficulties in finding a man to love her.
This is because she developed a strange illness at the age of 16 years which made one side of her face swell, as well as her left knee.
Till date, the mother of one does not know what she is suffering from. After she developed the condition, her parents took her to herbalists but the treatment did not work until they finally gave up.
“At first it was the cheek and the knee that were painful,” she explained
Her parents had to convince her to live with the condition because there was no other solution to her problem.
Xavera’s life changed and she would no longer go to school because she was afraid of how people would look at her. Her parents passed on and she had to learn how to survive on her own.
As years went by, there was no man who was willing to be with her yet she desired to have a family of her own and children.
She was aging, this forced her to come up with a trick so that she would get pregnant at the age of 35.
According to her, she covered her swollen face with a veil and went out. She was lucky to meet a man who was drunk. The man took her to his house and spend the night with her and at dawn, she left before he could wake up.
“I used to cover myself before going out. You see, this illness is so obvious. I wore a cloth on my face and went to meet him. I was hiding it,” she narrated to Afrimax.
After the one night stand, Xavera realized that she was pregnant later, and she was pleased that things worked in her favor. She however informed the man about the existence of his daughter.
“He later got to know that the child I gave birth to was his. Honestly we both didn’t know each other,” she said.
The man however rejected the baby and her saying that they have never met. He died later.
“When he saw how I looked he denied and said that he didn’t know me and then ran away. I understand how he felt because I know how I looked like so I decided to live with my child.
