Suna East MP Junet Mohamed is one of the most vocal members of parliament who tickles the masses with his comic statements.
The ODM MP and one of the closest and most loyal allies of Raila Odinga joined parliament in 2013, becoming the first Kenyan Somali to be elected in the Nyanza region.
Junet was born and raised in Migori. Before joining parliament, the MP served as the councilor of Migori, a position he held since 2003.
He is married to Faiza Deka Jamaa who is of Somali origin from the North Eastern part of the country just like her husband. Deka is of Islam religion.
Faiza has kept a very low profile over the years, unlike Junet but has made a name for herself in Migori by getting involved with the empowerment for women and championing for girl child education.
Information about her education and career have not been made public. It is also not clear when she got married to Junet, but the couple have been blessed with 5 children, whom they have kept off the public.
Faiza supports her husband’s political ambitions and also drums support for the Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga.
Last year in August, she wowed Migori locals and Kenyans at large with her mastery of the Luo language. That was during a function at their home where they had hosted ODM leader Raila Odinga.
In her statement, she urged the locals to sacrifice themselves in supporting Raila and his agendas in the August 9,2022 general elections.
“This is how we should also die for our leader Raila. The wife of a politician is also a politician. Behind a politician there is even a better politician. Isn’t it?” she asked and went ahead to say that she is a better politician than Junet.
