Government Shifts Blame To High School Principal Following Night Banditry Attack On Students(Video)

Date:

Interior CS Fred Matiang’i has ordered the arrest of Tot High School principal after the school’s bus was ambushed by armed bandits.

The bus driver died on the spot while 13 students and 2 teachers sustained injuries after the bandits sprayed bullets on their bus at Kerio Valley.

According to Matiang’i, the school principal will be arrested for allowing the school bus to be on the road past 6.30pm which is against the rules and policies.

The incident occurred on Thursday night at around 10 pm along  Arror-Mogil road near Tot in Elgeyo Marakwet County.

The teachers and students were coming from an academic trip in a convoy of three buses belonging to Tot Day School, Kerio Valley School and Mogil school when the attack occurred.

Villagers rushed to the scene to rescue the injured who were rushed to Kapsowar mission hospital for treatment.

The directive to have the school principal arrested has however irked Kenyans who wondered whether that was the solution to the banditry attacks that have rocked Kerio valley for a long period of time.

“Interior CS Fred Matiang’i has ordered Tot High School Principal to be arrested following last night’s attack. Why’s Matiangi shifting blame yet we know his ministry has failed to restore peace Kerio Valley? Who’re funding these terrorists to kill & steal livestock in north rift,” Atanas said on Twitter.

“CS Matiang’i is all talk and no bite. Since he promised government intervention to end banditry in Kerio Valley two weeks ago the situation has in fact gotten worse,” Brian Kimutai said.
