Manchester City are set to meet with Lionel Messi’s family next week as Paris St-Germain prepare their own offer.
The Argentine has shocked the footballing world after handing in a transfer request at Barcelona.
It follows a number of decisions that have contributed to his unhappiness.
The first this season started when he told Barca chiefs not to sack Ernesto Valverde, only for them to go ahead with the decision.
Quique Setien came in, only to infuriate the 33-year-old after Los Cules were thrashed in the Champions League when Bayern Munich.
That saw the former Real Betis coach sacked and replaced with Ronald Koeman, who reportedly told Messi that he will no longer have any privileges with the squad.
This happened to be the final straw as the mercurial superstar handed in a transfer request – sparking a scramble for his signature.
According to Veronica Brunati, City are prepared to meet Messi’s family in a bid to convince him to sign for them.
The Etihad outfit are the favourites to land the Argentina international due to his connection with Pep Guardiola.
“The best thing about him is not what he does but how simple he makes everything look,” the City manager once said in an interview with L’Esportiu.
“He is not just the best player because he can dribble past three or four players, it is because he does it better than anyone in the world.”

However, Brunati goes on to state that Paris St-Germain are preparing their own offer – which involves Luis Suarez.
The Uruguay international looks set to leave Barcelona as well after Koeman told him he was not part of his plans.
But Suarez and Messi have a deep connection as pals, on and off the pitch, and both would like the chance to play with each other more.
At PSG, that may very well be the case with the French champions keen on taking on the ex-Liverpool forward.
Messi is also in their sights and having Suarez onboard would be a huge bargaining chip they would have over City if a tug-of-war ensued.
