The mother of Embu siblings who died in the hands of the police early August has revealed that she is embarrassed to interact with people.
Catherine Wawira said that she has not been to the market since she lost her two sons.
“It has been a month and I cannot even go to the market because I am feeling ashamed. Right now if I say I will give birth to another child, I won’t have Ben or Emannuel, so I won’t give birth anymore, we just leave everything in God’s hands,” she said.
Speaking during an interview with TV47, Wawira said that she has not yet come to terms with the deaths of her sons and tries to connect with them every morning.
“I am their mother and when I wake up, I always go to their bedrooms and make their beds, though they are not here with me,” she revealed.
Benson Njiru, 22, and Emmanuel Mutura, 19, were arrested on August 1 for flouting curfew rules in Kianjokoma shopping center, Embu.
Days later their bodies were discovered in a mortuary. An autopsy revealed that the brothers died of head and rib injuries. The police however said  that the two suffered injuries after jumping from a moving police car.
Six police officers have been linked to deaths of Njiru and Mutura.
On September 12, officers Benson Mputhia, Consolata Kariuki, Nicholas Cheruyoit, Martin Wanyama, Lilian Chemuna and James Mwaniki were arraigned and charged at the Milimani Law Courts whereby they pleaded not guilty to the crimes.
The six were charged with two counts of murder and are still in custody awaiting consideration of their parole application on September 22.
Njiru was a student at Kabarak University while Mutura studied at Don Bosco Technology Training Institute.
