A doctor in Nakuru killed his two children and attempted to take his own life under unclear circumstances on Saturday night.
According to area police commander Beatrice Kiraguri, the doctor killed his children aged three and five after injecting them with a drug that is yet to be established.
“The scene indicates some drugs were used on the children and on himself. A postmortem shall be conducted to establish what type of drug it was,” Kiraguri said.
The doctor was rushed to Nakuru level five hospital while the bodies of the deceased were taken to the hospital’s morgue.
“The police arrived at the scene and broke into the house. They found two children dead and their father, a doctor, unconscious,” Kiraguri said.
The doctor is said to have confessed to have killed his children and will provide more information to the police with time.
Kiraguri said that neighbors who alerted the police on the insisted had informed them that the doctor had argued with his wife before the incident.
“We have communicated with the doctor’s wife, who says she was in Nairobi at the time of the incident. We shall establish what could have sparked her husband’s actions,” Kiraguri said.
