KANU Forced To Explain Their Political Stand After Party SG Nick Salat Spilled The Beans

Date:

Gideon Moi’s party, Kenya African National Union(KANU), has dispelled rumors that they are bound to quit One Kenya Alliance.

This comes after the party’s Secretary General Nick Salat said that the party had given Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka before Saturday, to make a decision of joining Azimio la Umoja, if not they would quit OKA.

Salat called upon Moi to abandon Kalonzo if he does not want to join Azimio la Umoja thus expressing his tiredness of Kalonzo’s indecisiveness.

According to a press release by KANU on Thursday, the party is firmly in OKA and is in consultation with other members amid Azimio la Umoja discussions.

“The media has attributed to the said threats to the Secretary General of the party Hon Nick Salat  following his remarks yesterday during the launch of the party’s manifesto.

“We wish to make it very clear that the party is firmly in OKA and is in consultation with other partner members on the on-going discussions with  Azimio la Umoja coalition,” part of the statement read.

KANU further said that they were united as a coalition and any progress and that any talks with Azimio or any other parties must be structured, open and honest.

“KANU therefore has not changed its position whatsoever away from the common position taken by the OKA coalition member parties,” the party’s executive director George Wainaina said.

The party further asked the public to consider Salat’s remarks as personal and not a representation of the party.

“The sentiments by Hon. Salat, including the declaration that the party would attend the Azimio coalition NDC on Saturday, are therefore purely personal to himself and should not be misconstrued to be that of the party,” he added.
