Kalonzo’s Wiper Party and Isaac Ruto’s CMM Sign Post-Election Agreement With Jubilee

Kalonzo’s Wiper Democratic Movement and Isaac Ruto’s Chama Cha Mashinani have signed a post-election agreement with President Uhuru’s Jubilee Party.

The deal signed on Wednesday at the Jubilee Party headquarters in Nairobi will see the three parties work together ahead of the 2022 polls.

The cooperation agreement was signed by the secretary generals of the three parties before their party bosses.

At the event, the Wiper leader was accompanied by his party officials like Judith Achieng Sijeny (Secretary-General), Chirau Ali Mwakwere (Chairman), and Mutula Kilonza (Vice-Chair).

Apart from the party leader of Chama Cha Mashinani also present at the event was the party Secretary-General Buzeki Bundotich.

On the Jubilee side, those who were present included Jubilee Vice-Chairman David Murathe and Secretary Raphael Tuju who represented the President at the ceremony.

After signing the agreement, both Kalonzo and Isaac Ruto pledged their full support to the president and his administration in matters development and pushing his big four agenda.

“We shall cooperate fully in terms of disagreement, enhancing Jubilee programs in both houses of Parliament,” Wiper leader, Kalonzo Musyoka said.

Kalonzo, however, retained his party was till under the Nasa coalition and the ultimate goal of the deal he signed is to form a political coalition with the ruling party for the 2022 general elections.

“At this point, Wiper continues as a member party of the NASA coalition because you can’t belong to the same coalition at the same time. Our intention is to conclude a coalition agreement with Jubilee. We are also consulting our friends in the NASA coalition as well as Chama Cha Mashinani to be able to move this country in the necessary direction,” Kalonzo said.

Isaac Ruto termed the agreement as historic since it provided a perfect opportunity for President Uhuru to deliver on his pledges he made to the people of Kenya.

According to Ruto, working together didn’t mean he was abandoning his ideas and political parties. The agreement, however, meant they were opening a new chapter in Kenya.

This is indeed the first period in history in which we will have a peaceful period of development between one election and the other,” Isaac Ruto said.
