Kalonzo Musyoka Responds To Ruto’s Remarks On Judiciary

Date:

Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has broken silence after president William Ruto attacked the Judiciary.

In a statement, the former vice president bashed the Kenya Kwanza administration for pretending to uphold the rule of law.

“It is now evident that those who pretend to uphold the rule of law are now clearly exposing their true colors. They have paid lip service to the cardinal principles of the rule of law enshrined in the Constitution of Kenya 2010,” he said.

He added that there are right channels to deal with rogue judicial officers. He also urged the Judiciary to remain steadfast in delivering its mandate to the citizens of Kenya.

“When there are allegations of corruption by some judicial officers, there is a clear framework in place to investigate them, notably the Judicial Service Act of 2011,” Kalonzo said.

He further agreed with the Law Society of Kenya, which has planned to hold peaceful countrywide protests against Ruto’s remarks to the Judiciary.

On Tuesday, while speaking in Nyandarua, Ruto, for a second time, launched attacks on the arm of government.
He accused the Judiciary of being used by graft cartels to derail his development agenda.
He however noted that he would defy court rulings and proceed with his agenda.
“Our Judiciary, we respect you but judicial impunity by corrupt judicial officers must stop in Kenya. We will stop it and whatever it takes,” the head of state said.
