A woman from Ngewa apartment, Kajiado County is in police custody for allegedly murdering her son over reasons that are yet to be established.
According to a statement by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, Mercy Mwauli tortured her son to death and proceeded to Kitengela police station on Wednesday night to report that her son had fallen from a couch, in order to cover up her crime.
DCI says that the suspect reported that her son had suffered head injuries.
“They lived at Ngewa Apartment. The boy was rushed to the nearby Shalom Hospital, but unfortunately breathed his last as doctors and nurses made frantic efforts to save his life,” reads the DCI statement.
“It wasn’t until an autopsy was conducted at the hospital’s mortuary this morning on the request of the boy’s father, that police uncovered the mother’s lies,” statement further read.
A postmortem conducted on the boy revealed that he had actually died of severe injuries inflicted on his body. Pathologists established that the minor had severe bruises on the lower limbs.
“There was also severe bleeding on the upper limbs, arms, thighs and the head,” DCI said.
The boy’s father, Dick Ndubukhile was left distraught by the news.
Detectives then visited Ngewa Apartment and questioned the mother and the caretaker following the discovery.
“It was established that the child had been savagely attacked by the mother over an unknown issue.”
The woman was immediately arrested and will face murder charges once investigations are completed.
Elsewhere investigations have launched after a woman was discovered dead inside a car that she was in company with her 4-month old baby at Gatuanyaga village of Thika in Kiambu County.
The woman is said to have been brutally killed by unknown people who left her baby unhurt inside the car.
