Judge Cites Lack Of Evidence To Drop Rape Case Involving United Star Cristiano Ronaldo

Date:

A rape case involving Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo could be on its nosedive. Going by the suggestions from the magistrate handling the case, all indications point to the fact that Ronaldo could be free without anything suspicious haunting him.

The 36-year old football star is alleged to have assaulted a lady in a hotel in Las Vegas, United States. The incident took place way back in 2009, and has since been alive in court even though the footballer has been successful in his football career.

Way back in 2009, prosecutors exuded a lot of confidence when a civil case by the woman in question had claimed damages – but the football star had always distanced himself from any wrong-doing. Now, a judge has recommended that the case be dropped – citing insufficiency of evidence that would compel the court to lock the footballer behind the bar.

But on reviewing the case before another judge made a decision, Magistrate judge Daniel Albregts dismissed that the evidence based on the leaked communication between Cristiano and his legal team are not well enough to pin down the soccer star.

On hearing the latest developments, Ronaldo’s lawyer, Mr. Peter Christiansen welcomed the decision from the bench to dismiss the case on a technicality. “We are pleased with the court’s detailed review of the matter, and its willingness to justly apply the law to the facts and recommend dismissal of the civil case against Mr. Ronaldo,” said Mr. Christensen.

However, the woman’s legal team that were involved had claimed that their client was not regally resolute at the time she reached for out of court settlement with the former Real Madrid forward.

Ronaldo was recently re-signed by the Old Trafford based club this summer after successfully plying his trade at both Real Madrid and, lately, Juventus.
