Jubilee Denies Claims Of Planning To Kick Out Speaker Justin Muturi For Associating With DP Ruto

Date:

Reports have widely circulated that there are plans to kick out National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi from his position.

According to a report by People Daily, Muturi’s close allies claimed that MPs from the Kieleweke section of Jubilee were collecting signatures to have Muturi removed from his position over speculations that he was associating with DP William Ruto.

“We know the move to collect the signatures is currently going on and they are targeting the Kieleweke team which supports the President. We are ready for them,” one of Muturi’s allies who sought anonymity said.

Muturi was coronated earlier this year as the Mt. Kenya spokesperson and he is among those eyeing the country’s top position.

“We know why they want him out of the position; it is because of his association with the Deputy President. However, we are not worried about this because we are sure this will help him shed off the tag that he is a project of Uhuru and Raila,” the source added.

Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju has however said that he is unaware of plans to oust Muturi.

On the other hand, National Assembly Majority Leader and Kipipiri Member of Parliament, Amos Kimunya also denied being aware of the plan saying that the party’s top leadership had not given him such instructions.

“I am not aware of any attempt to remove Speaker Muturi. I suspect the peddlers of the story are trying to shift attention from the Jubilee revitalisation and NDC,” Kimunya said.

While Kieni MP Kanini Kega said that he was focused on the planned Jubilee National Delegates Conference whereby DP Ruto is expected to be kicked out of Jubilee.

He said that he will propose the motion to ouster Ruto while telling Jubilee rebels not to expect invitations to attend the meeting slated for November 30.

“You know me very well, it is not a question of just saying when I want to do something I am committed to it. On the removal of Muturi, I am not a party to it, I have not been approached by anyone on this and neither will I take part in it,”  Kega said.
