Janet Mbugua Organizes A Dark Valentine Vigil

Date:

As many Kenyans look forward to celebrating Valentine’s Day on Wednesday February 14,  renown media personality Janet Mbugua has planned a dark Valentine vigil.

According to the mother of two, this is aimed keeping the memories of women who have been brutally murdered.

The event will take place at University of Narobi from 4pm-7pm.

“It might be Valentine’s Day week, but there’s a darkness that hovers. This is because many who we should be celebrating love with, are instead being grieved. On this week, here is how we will keep the memory of our sisters who have been brutally killed, alive:

“On Wednesday the 14th of February, there will be a Dark Valentine vigil taking place at the University of Nairobi Main Campus from 4PM to 7PM, as a vigil and memorial to our lost sisters as well as to put pressure on Parliament and County Assemblies opening on the 13th of Feb 2024 to read and act on our demands to our delivered petition. Locations for other similar vigils will be updated soon so please keep a look out. Please share widely and come if you can. Bring your friends, partners, family,” she said.

She also called upon well wishers to donate items that those who will attend the vigil will use.

“Ahead of the national vigil, if you are able to, please send some items to support those who will be participating. Items include: candles, water, flowers, handkerchiefs. Send them to Shem Plaza, Lusaka Rd, 5th floor. Contact 0740616551 for more information,” she said.
