Elgeyo Marakwet senator Kipchumba Murkomen has faced the wrath of netizens after sharing photos of children who were murdered in a bandit attack.
The minors aged 8,9 and 11, who were pupils of Tot primary lost their lives while playing in a nearby field. The attack that occurred at Tot area of Marakwet East on Sunday.
In his tweet, Murkomen was urging Kenyans to help him force president Uhuru Kenyatta, Interior CS Fred Matiang’i and the Inspector General of police Hillary Mutyambai to act fast so that the attacks can be stopped.
“Today 3 kids who were just playing aged 8,9 and 11 were brutally Killed by bandits at Tot, Marakwet East. Please Kenyans help me force President Kenyatta, Matiang’i &IG Mutyambai to do something to end the killings. I have attached the pictures of the murdered kids. It’s painful,” the senator said.
Instead of getting the help that he was requesting for, netizens descended on him with all manner of criticisms with some saying that he is in a position to save his people from the banditry attacks yet for the time he has been in office he has made no effort to do so.
He was further accused of using the dead children to earn votes because elections are around the corner.
“Bandits did not start killing people in your region today, they have been killing them even when you were the Majority leader in the Senate. When power was in your head, you did not use your influence to bring security to your people, now election time is near you’re back,” Walter Ambege responded to Murkomen’s tweet.
“Murkomen is asking us to help him force Uhuru to give an order so that cal can be restored in [Elgeyo Marakwet]…mind you this is a senator. He has both the numbers of Uhuru, Matiangi and even Ruto. He hasn’t acted for the 5 years he has been a senator. I don’t know what he wants us to do,” Billy the goat said.
“Murkomen, it is SATANIC to use the bodies of dead CHILDREN to score marks against Uhuru Kenyatta on twitter. Or is this the other SIDE of Freemasons in UDA? Take those pictures DOWN and dignify the CHILDREN,” political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi said.
The attack also left a herder dead and six others injured.
