Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi has rejected Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga’s invitation to attend the Azimio La Umoja meeting at the Kasarani Stadium.
According to Musalia Mudavadi, he received the invitation to attend Raila Odinga’s convention scheduled for Friday but he was not happy with how he was addressed in the letter.
Musalia Mudavadi claimed that he was described in the letter in his capacity as the Amani National Congress(ANC) leader as opposed to the principal of the One Kenya Alliance (OKA).
As a result, the ANC boss maintained that he will not go to Kasarani due to some personal engagements which he did not disclose. At the same time, Mudavadi went ahead to wish Raila Odinga well in his scheduled Kasarani tour.
“I have just received an official invitation to the Azimio la Umoja Convention. As noted herein, the invitation was addressed in my personal capacity as ANC Party Leader and not OKA Principal. Regrettably, I will not be able to attend because of personal engagements,” Mudavadi said.
On his side, Wiper leader Steven Kalonzo Musyoka also hinted that he may not be able to attend the Azimio convention due to some commitments outside the country.
“I was welcomed by Amb. Barnaba Marial Benjamin, South Sudan’s Minister for Presidential Affairs to the State House, Juba, for talks with H.E. President Salva Kiirr on the peace process in South Sudan,” Musyoka stated.
In the meantime, Musalia Mudavadi recently while responding to president Uhuru Kenyatta said that the old people ought to be very careful or else the young ones will overtake and occupy their leadership positions.
He made these sentiments in the wake of the head of state taking a swipe at deputy president William Ruto and his allies for always referring to Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga as an old man (mzee).
While speaking in Nakuru county, President Uhuru Kenyatta said that leadership had nothing to do with age as is being propelled by deputy president Ruto and his team, insisting that it has everything to do with the brain.
As a result, he urged those people referring to others as unable to go slow lest they get shocked by the turn of events.
“Fikirieni na msikimbie. Msikuje na speed. Speed inaangusha jameni. afadhali polepole nsa ufike pahali ambapo ulikuwa unafika, unaniskiza? Mnaniskiza nyinyi? mnanielewa? Mkikuja ati sijui ati mzee hafai tunataka kijana namna hii uyu ako namna hii uyu nako namna ile mtu anachagua na ubongo bana .” Said Uhuru in defence of Raila from Ruto’s attack.
