Dr. James Gakara’s widow Winnie Odhiambo made first public appearance since the tragic incident of September 18th, and she was full of praise for her late husband.
Winnie eulogized Dr. Gakara as the best partner, a good listener and compassionate during a requiem mass at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Nakuru’s Milimani Estate on Monday September 27th.
The three bodies of Gakara and his two children Dylan, 5, and Hailey, 3, were taken to the church before burial slated for Tuesday.
During the requiem mass, Winnie paid growing tribute to her late husband of eight years, praising him as selfless and supportive man.
Winnie’s touching tribute to her late husband was read to mourners at Holy Trinity Catholic Church Milimani by Dr. Joy Mugambi.
“I got everything I would ask for. Now I know it’s not possible for anyone to live 1,000 years. My heart bleeds and I’m completely shattered,” said Winnie.
The widow also revealed that their spark of love began in the operation room when they worked together with Dr. Gakara being her immediate boss.
“I was a clinical officer intern. On my fourth day of maternity rotation in February 2014, we examined a patient and agreed she needed an emergency Caesarian Section, my first surgery,” Winnie told the mourners.
Winnie explained how shaken and hesitant she was thinking Dr. Gakara was going to shout at her because of how she approached the patient.
The widow disclosed that Dr. Gakara looked at her calmly and comforted her telling her not to be worried because he was there to teach her what to do.
Dr. Gakara and Winnie developed strong feelings for each other and they eventually fell in love and got married in a colorful wedding on November 25th of 2015.
The late Gakara and his two children Dylan and Hailey will be buried today at their Mbaruk home in Gilgil, Nakuru on Tuesday September 28th.
Gakara died on September 22nd after four days in the Intensive Care Unit at the Nakuru Level Five Hospital, while his two children died on September 18th.
Post-mortem tests didn’t give conclusive results on the cause of the three deaths, police reports indicated that Gakara may have injected the children with lethal concoction of medical drugs before turning the same on himself.
