Miguna Miguna has warned the richest man on earth Elon Musk about his planned reforms on Twitter targeting those with verified accounts.
Miguna said that Musk was being greedy and exploiting Twitter users. He cautioned him to be ready for a mass exodus from the social media site if he persists with his [unreasonable] plans.
“Mr. @elonmusk: You don’t need the money. Greed is one of the worst sins. Stop exploiting Twitter users. If you persist, we will ORGANIZE a mass exodus from Twitter and turn your “investment” into a nightmare! Continue pushing us!!” the lawyer said.
In a series of tweets, Musk announced that Twitter will start charging $8 per month for those with the verification check mark which is popularly referred to as the blue tick while referring to the current verification system as bullshit.
He however noted that the “pending charges” might differ across countries.
“Twitter’s current lords & peasants system for who has or doesn’t have a blue checkmark is bullshit. Power to the people! Blue for $8/month. Price adjusted by country proportionate to purchasing power parity,” the billionaire stated.
Musk further listed some of the privileges that those with the verification badge will enjoy.
“You will also get: – Priority in replies, mentions & search, which is essential to defeating spam/scams – Ability to post long videos & audio – Half as many ads And paywall bypass for publishers willing to work with us. This will also give Twitter a revenue stream to reward content creators. There will be a secondary tag below the name for someone who is a public figure, which is already the case for politicians,” the Tesla CEO said.
The latest development comes barely days after Musk said that those with Twitter blue(a monthly subscription that gives the most engaged people on Twitter exclusive access to premium features) will start paying about $20 instead of the current $4 per month.
