Governor Gladys Wanga’s win was delivered at gun point in Homa Bay County, IEBC official testifies

Date:

“Gladys Wanga win was not genuine.” In the Homa Bay gubernatorial election petition submitted by Dr. Evans Kidero, an Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) employee who participated in the August 9 elections has testified against Gladys Wanga’s win.

ODM party’s Wanga won the race with 244,559 votes, defeating independent contender Dr. Kidero’s 154,182 votes, according to the election results.

The witness disagreed with the IEBC regarding election transparency in the Ongeti polling place, where Kidero received 115 votes and Wanga received 235.

He said that boisterous youngsters held him at gunpoint and forced him to change the election results in Wanga’s favor.

“Immediately after counting votes, a group of rowdy youths came and switched off the lights. They pointed a gun at me and forced me to record the results they had cooked,” Ojijo said.

When testifying in court against his employer, the officer known only as Dan Ojijo said that the election was not free and fair at the specific voting location, Ongeti Primary School, in the Kochia ward. Ojijo worked as the presiding officer at that station.

In the petition brought by Dr. Kidero challenging the election of Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, Ojijo was the first witness to appear before Justice Roselyne Aburili in Homa Bay High Court.

The presiding officer said that he was under pressure to obey the hooligans’ orders and was afraid for his life.
