It seems deputy president William Samoei Ruto has decided to take the gloves off to the extent of branding president Uhuru Kenyatta a conman (tapeli) in broad daylight.
William Ruto made these sentiments during an empowerment programme of Likoni Boda Boda operators as he castigated president Uhuru Kenyatta and Orange Democratic Movement(ODM) leader Raila Odinga for standing up on his way.
According to the deputy president, he was baffled by the fact that both the opposition leader and the head of state have “ganged up” in a bid to frustrate his presidential ambitions come 2022.
”Si mimi nilisukuma nikasukuma Raila hata karibu niende Hague hadi akawa prime minister? nikasukuma nikasukuma rafiki yangu Uhuru kenyatta akawa rais, Maraga akaleta shida tena nikasukuma yeye hadi akawa rais? sasa saizi wameanza kuniweka majina, sijui mimi ni mkora, sijui mimi ni mwizi. siku ile mimi nilikuwa nasupport Raila Odinga walisema mimi ni mtu mzuri, siku ile nilikuwa na support Uhuru Kenyatta mimi nilikuwa mtu mzuri. leo nasema nisaidie hustler wanasema mimi ni mkora. hawa watu si ni matapeli? wakwende bwana”. Ranted Ruto
The second in command is traversing the constituencies of Likoni, Jomvu, Changamwe amongst others as he tries to sell his hustler narrative to the coastal voters.
While there, he maintained that the economy must be restructured in a way that it takes care of the small scale business people through his bottom up economic model.
”We are reconstructing our economy to give rise to sustained growth by supporting small enterprises to thrive. Under the innovative, practical and revolutionary Bottom-Up Economic Development Plan, we will decriminalize these traders, reduce the tax burden and allow them to access cheap funding” Added Ruto.
