Gachagua Defends President Ruto’s Frequent Trips To Foreign Countries

Date:

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has reacted to the criticism that his boss William Ruto has been facing over his frequent foreign trips.

Since being sworn to office, the first in command has been on nearly 40 foreign trips.

Following the criticism, the president responded saying that his international trips are meant for securing job opportunities and investments for Kenyans.

He made the remarks during a church service on October 29 in Eldoret.

His deputy has also come out to defend him on the same.

Speaking in Mombasa, while commissioning various projects together with Ruto, ahead of King Charles and Queen Camilla’s visit, Gachagua urged the president to continue making the trips.

“Na rais kuna wale wanakupigia kelele ati unatembea sana, ati unaenda kila nchi unaenda kufanya nini. Tunataka kuambia hawa matunda ya rais kutembea kila mahali duniani imepatikana  hapa kwa hii Kisiwa” he said.

The DP said the trips are beneficial to Kenyans and the president has a duty to play.

”Na rais we want to encourage you to continue going anywhere in the world. Pahali popote utapata Wakenya watafaidika. Wewe ulichaguliwa ukapewa mamlaka ya kuwasaidia wakenya na kuwainua kiuchumi ukiona amerikani ndio wakenya watapata usaidizi paa kwa ndege uende hapo utuletee matunda, ukipata ni China tembea,” Gachagua stated.

According to him, the president was not going to foreign countries as a tourist as he would do so in Mombasa or Maasai Mara.

“Rais is going to work because it is a responsibility that Kenyans have bestowed on him. The president found the economy dilapidated. We can’t solve it on our own as Kenya. It is a must for the president to travel to places,”
